Explanation:
Standard Vinyl tubing can have a variance in the plastimers used from manufacturer to manufacturer. It is apparent that we have received vinyl tubing from our vendor that is inconsistent from the product we received in the past and it can be affected by our LiquiBase product. LiquiBase is a strong, effective product and therefore has been reported to blacken vinyl tubing and sometimes cause flakes to get into the product.
Immediate action if problem arises:
If the issue has occurred, please change the current vinyl tubing that you are using to one of the following solutions:
- The Tygon Chemical Resistant Tubing Formulation 2475 (P20010001-050) is safe to use in conjunction with LiquiBase 030 and is flexible and hard to kink. One solution is to replace the vinyl tubing with Tygon Tubing.
In recognizing the cost of the Tygon Tubing, an alternative would be splicing the Tygon Tubing with the Low Density Polyethylene Tubing. The ¼” Low Density Polyethylene Tubing (Item number P2001008-100) fits into the Tygon Tubing. Use a clamp to secure the connection. (See picture to the right.)- The third alternative is to use the 3/8” Low Density Polyethylene Tubing. The 3/8” Low Density Polyethylene Tubing (Item number P20010007-100) is a little harder to work with and can kink easily if not careful.
Long-term resolution:
Any of the three suggestions above will work. Please be sure to change all existing sites that are using LiquiBase to prevent any damage that may happen with the vinyl tubing. In new site setups, use one of the suggested solutions above.
