Subject: Product UF260 Body Shampoo attacking low grades of stainless steel

It has been found that UF260 (non-diluted) can affect certain grades of stainless steel. This can be an issue with CSI’s current General Pump injectors. The internal injector nozzle is 316 SS but the hose barb is made out of 303 SS, UF260 (non-diluted) can attack the metal and threads causing the tips to come loose and increase product usage.

If you have any applications that are using UF260 (non-diluted) on a lower grade Stainless Steel or other alloy it should be switched to a hose barb made of Kynar or Polypropylene (without filler), the check spring should be Hastalloy, and we recommend that the check ball be Teflon.

Currently CSI® has been testing a variety of injectors from different OEM’s. The injector that seems to be fitting the above-mentioned criteria the most is the Dema “Rocket”. While testing continues, we are ordering small batches of the Rockets for CSI customers to use on applications using UF260 until we make a final decision of which injector we will carry. Currently we have them available in sizes: .070 (1.5 GPM), .083 (2.0 GPM) and .086 (2.4 GPM).
